Tumaini International

Education

Tumaini International offers education opportunities for our sponsored children through high school and beyond. Any child sponsored through Tumaini International will remain in the program until completion of high school or Vocational training.

We invest in quality education not only by sponsoring hundreds of children, but by Building our own signature high schools. Our goal is to make these boarding high schools centers of academic excellence to give hope to our sponsored kids and those in the surrounding communities across Kenya.

Sponsor a Child

When you sponsor a child through Tumaini International, you change a life.

For only $38 a month, you ensure a child can live with their extended family or caring neighbors and receive:

  • medical care
  • food security
  • clothing
  • a complete education through high school

Through sponsorship, you give the gift of hope.

Alumni Fund

Each year, 60 students graduate from our schools and Age out of the Tumaini program.

Our Alumni Fund makes it possible for them to continue their educational and career dreams.

The Alumni Fund gives our team in Kenya the flexibility to evaluate each alumnus and provide the relevant support based on their academic performance and business interest. For those who qualify or opt for CBOs, we will pair them with successful businesses to mentor them along the way.

Hope Fund

Tumaini makes a commitment to each sponsored child that they will finish their education regardless of whether or not their sponsor stays current.

The Hope Fund bridges the lapses or lost sponsors.

Instead of giving $38 monthly to a specific child, you can give to whomever needs the resources the most at the time. If you want to give but are unsure committing to a Child Sponsorship is right for you, then we invite you to please support our Hope Fund and ensure Ongoing support for every child.

Health

Tumaini is committed to supporting the health & wellbeing of Kenyan communities.

Socio-Economic Development

In a country with unemployment as high as 40%, Tumaini is committed to providing hope for every individual, giving them the tools necessary for their success.

We strive to reduce extreme poverty through socio-economic programs designed to provide job training and sustainable development to unemployed youth and women. We use Community Based Organization (CBO) models which offer new economic alternatives for people facing extreme poverty.

Instead of giving the poor fleeting handouts, Tumaini empowers the communities and existing organizations to get out of poverty by providing the skills, small grants, and means necessary for their success.

- President/CEO Stanley Mutunga

Our basic approach is Assets Based Community Development (ABCD).

Tumaini will only partner with groups or communities that already work together and have identified a viable way to address their economic needs.

We ask the question, “What works here, and how can we best work with you to realize your goals?”

We come in as Partners, and Empower the recipients to effectively address their own needs.
