Child Sponsorship is available for just $35 per month. As a Child Sponsor, you have the opportunity to provide life-changing hope through tangible assistance to a vulnerable child who has lost one or both parents to AIDS. Your tax-deductible donation is used to help provide the basic needs of your sponsored child. You may exchange pen-pal correspondence with your sponsored child as often as you like, and you will find that they treasure every word from you. Tumaini children are also able to attend what they call "the highlight of the year," our week long Christian Camps which are offered during their school breaks in April and August.
We are able to provide the basic needs of food, safe shelter, clothing, medicine, education, counseling and spiritual nourishment to AIDS-orphaned children through this child sponsorship program. We believe that all children should be loved, nurtured, educated and protected in a family environment, not an institution. We do not build orphanages. Our aim is to place the children under the loving care of responsible relatives-either grandparents, aunts/uncles, or caring neighbors- and we partner with these guardians to assist in meeting the family's basic needs. The children are then able to grow up in a loving home and retain the values of family and community.
Some of our children live in villages as far as 200+ kilometers away from our Kenyan base of operations. With this in mind, we have recruited area representatives to assist in assessing the needs of Tumaini families and identifying additional children who qualify for our programs.
For some of our older children who have completed secondary school, Child Sponsorship provides assistance with such expenses as vocational training or even college entrance fees.
